Tank Car Configuration Types

Tank cars are available in a variety of configurations to safely transport different types of liquid and gaseous materials.

  • General Purpose Coiled/Insulated Tank:  23,500-29,000 gallons. Designed for a wide range of liquid products, with heating and insulation options for temperature-sensitive materials.
  • Pressure Tank Cars: 33,000+ gallons. Built to safely transport pressurized commodities such as liquid gases, requiring reinforced construction and specialized fittings.
  • Non-Coiled/Non-Insulated Tanks: 30,000+ gallons. Commonly used for products such as crude oil or ethanol where temperature control is not required.
  • Specialty Tank Cars: Custom configurations designed for specific commodity requirements, including unique linings, coatings, and handling systems.

Tank Car Capabilities
